A focus hour is a block of calendar time protected from meetings and messages so deep work can happen, and once its results are visible, colleagues start asking for one too.
Uninterrupted time is the scarcest resource on most data teams, and the people who have found it tend to guard it. The Focus Hour Has a Waiting List is the reputation a protected block earns once colleagues see what it produces: the migration finished, the model explained, the query that finally made sense.
Make it a team ritual instead of a private trick. Agree which hours are quiet, set the expectation that chat can wait and keep urgent channels as the exception. Async teams have an advantage: the answer will still be there after the hour.
