Lasting results tend to come from sustained, careful work rather than speed alone, and this title reframes a familiar phrase about winners as a statement about patience.
Speed wins demos. Patience wins the year. Winners Take Their Time is the belief that the teams who come out ahead are rarely the fastest to a first version and almost always the ones still improving the tenth: steady, honest about trade-offs and unwilling to ship what they cannot stand behind.
Take the time where it compounds: schema design, tests, the definition everyone will reuse. Move fast where it is reversible. Knowing which is which is the actual skill, and it comes from having watched both kinds of mistake.
