Orphaned records are child rows whose parent no longer exists, such as orders pointing to a deleted customer, which break referential integrity and quietly distort joins.

An order with no customer, a click with no session: orphaned records are pointers to something that used to exist. They rarely raise errors. They just fall out of inner joins and leave totals a few percent light.

Finding them takes an anti-join, and explaining them takes detective work: a deletion, a late-arriving parent, a key that changed format. This track is for that patient trace. Fix the cause upstream if you can, and quarantine the strays so they stop skewing the numbers.
