CDC at Dawn
Change data capture (CDC) reads row-level inserts, updates and deletes from a source database, typically from its transaction log, and streams them onward so replicas and warehouses stay in sync.
While the source database was busy with a night of inserts, updates and deletes, CDC at Dawn was already listening. Change data capture means you read the log instead of rescanning the table, so the warehouse hears about each change once and in order.
Morning is when you verify it: offsets advanced, lag near zero, no gap in the stream. It is unglamorous reliability work, finished before most of the company has found its coffee. Start the day by confirming the night kept its promises.
