The Whiteboard Forgets Slowly
A whiteboard sketch is cheap to make and easy to change, which suits early design, as long as the decisions that matter are photographed and written down before the board is wiped.
Half a data model lives on a whiteboard, in boxes and arrows that made perfect sense at four in the afternoon. The Whiteboard Forgets Slowly is for that fading record: the faint ghost of last week’s diagram still visible under the new one, the marker that will not quite erase.
Sketch freely, then capture. Photograph the board, write the decisions and open questions in a doc with the date and link it to the ticket. In an async team, the diagram that is not written down effectively does not exist.
