Query at 3AM
A reference to the late-night on-call moment when something breaks and you write an urgent SQL query to find out what happened.
At 3AM the query you write is shorter than usual and more honest. No CTE gymnastics, no style debate, just a count by hour, a filter on the failing source and the question of when the numbers stopped making sense.
Query at 3AM is the one you would be proud to explain in the morning: it reads clearly, it is bounded by time and partition, and it does not make the incident worse. Keep it simple, read before you write, and save the query for the postmortem.
