Plays Well With Others
A data connector is a prebuilt integration that reads from or writes to an external system and handles authentication, pagination, schema and incremental changes so they are not rebuilt for every source.
Each source speaks its own dialect: different authentication, pagination, rate limits and ways of describing change. A connector translates one of them so you do not have to. Plays Well With Others is the ideal of an integration that handles the dialect and keeps the data flowing.
Judge a connector by what happens on bad days: a revoked token, a renamed field, a rate limit or a partial page. Good ones retry, report clearly and resume without duplicating rows. Ask about that before you ask about the catalog size.
