A Soft Goodbye, Logged

Churn is the rate at which customers stop using or paying for a product, measured against a defined starting group over a defined period.

Customers rarely slam the door. They log in less, skip a renewal, let a month lapse. Churn is the measured version of that quiet exit: the share of a starting group that has gone by the end of a period, and the distance between that and your definition of gone is where the arguments live. A Soft Goodbye, Logged is for reading those numbers with some respect.

Define churn before you chart it: inactivity or cancellation, calendar or rolling window, which segment. Then look at who left and what they did in their last weeks. The rate tells you how much. Their last weeks tell you why.
