A Quiet Room for Bad Messages

A dead-letter queue holds messages that could not be processed after the allowed retries, keeping them aside for inspection instead of blocking the stream or losing them.

Poison messages exist: a malformed payload, an unexpected type, a record that fails on every attempt. Left in the main flow, one of them can stall everything behind it. A Quiet Room for Bad Messages is the dead-letter queue, where a message goes once its retries are spent, out of the way but not out of reach.

Treat the room as a work queue, not a graveyard. Keep the error and the original payload with each message, alert when the count rises and replay once the cause is fixed. The message was probably telling you something.
